How to Make a Successful Blog?

No wonder that now internet is one of great way in doing business. The first step in doing business on the internet is by making a website or at least a blog. The question is how to make a successful blog? What parts of the blog that should be optimized to make it attractive to the visitors? Of course you can say that there are many ways to make a successful blog. Ok, we have good written content, and then – what? What about the look of our blog? What do we offers to the visitors? Or to be more precise, what do we want the visitors do in our blog?  Do we want them to read our writings? Or we want them to buy something? Or maybe we want them to join our mailing list? How to make our visitors come over and over again?

Here are things we have to consider over and over again to make a successful blog.

Selecting the Blog’s Niche
The first step toward how to make a blog successful, will be to target your blog for one specific niche. For example, if we are making a blog on SEO, then we have to give our best to only write about SEO and only things related to SEO. Of course it is not a must. For a a blog is not a website. People use the blog to share everything they want. But, once more, if we have a blog that have a certain niche, the chance to get loyal visitors that come over and over again to our blog will be greater. If our blog is really good at the niche, then maybe the visitors will take it as a reference for their specific needs. That’s why they will come again and again. Take a look at kolom-tutorial.blogspot.com for an example.

Selecting The Blog’s Keyword Phrase
Now you have decided the main content of your blog. It is the to fill it with good contents or posts. What do we have in  mind when writing a post? Keyword Phrase. A keyword phrase is two or more words that best describe your blog’s post. Maybe this is a hardest thing in making a successful post. We already have the idea, but don’t really sure how to write it in an eye catching way so that people will read the post. Keyword is the key. The post itself is what we offer. It is very recommended that before we publish the post we have to do a ‘research’ to find the best keyword for that post. We can do that by looking at what Google suggests in its searching bar.

Using META Tags
Another step to help make a website successful is to include META tags between the HEAD tags of your webpage. META tags help the search engines to know what keywords are relevant to the webpage. They are also used to tell the search engines what the webpage is about. Many search engines will display this description within the search results.

Backgrounds and Text
The black text with white background is always the best. Avoid using distracting backgrounds. It will make the text difficult to read. A simple and easy to read blog is a great way to make a successful blog.

Animated Graphics
If you're using animated graphics, it is important that you use them sparingly. Graphics that continually flashing are very annoying and may prevent your visitors from spending their time reading your posts or event to come again in the future.

Navigational Links
It is very important to include good navigational links on every page. They should be displayed at the top, bottom, left or right side of your page. You can also adding a related post widget to make your visitors stay a little longer.

Spelling and Grammar
Always make sure you proof read and spell check your posts for errors. It is also very important that your blog doesn't have any broken images or links.

Important Pages
When you launch your blog, it is very important that you include the following pages:

  • About - The 'About' page is used to tell your visitors about you and/or your company.
  • Privacy - The 'Privacy' page is used to let your visitors know what you do with their personal information, such as their email address.
  • Terms and Conditions - The 'Terms and Conditions' page should be displayed on your blog’s front page for your protection.
  • Site Map - A 'Site Map' is used to help the search engines index your website more easily. You can learn more about all of these pages by doing a search through your favorite search engine.

Blog’s Interactivity
Another way to make a successful blog is to make the blog as interactive as it can be. This can be done by including a targeted forum that complements your blog, a form in which they can subscribe to an ezine, a feedback form to enable them to give their opinion, or an informative blog in which visitors can comment.

Web Browsers and Screen Resolutions
Try to test how your blog will appear using the most popular web browsers on your computer. This will enable you to see how your blog will display in different browsers. You will find that your blog’s template may look great in one browser and terrible in another. It would be wise to design the template to display properly in Firefox and then it should display properly in Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.
Hope that now we can make our blogs successful.

The New Minimalist Google’s Front Searching Page

Google Minimalist

Google is now experimenting its front searching page. Not to make it more interactive, but to make it more minimalist. Want to try the new minimalist Google’s front searching page? Here is how,

Copy and paste this java script code on the address bar

javascript:void(document.cookie="PREF=ID=abac7a90f5a3784b:LD=en:NR=10:TM=1254990196:LM=1254990236:S=uB6F4jDnMP_DuxtT;path=/; domain=.google.com");

By doing so, every time you type www.google.com all you will see is the Google's logo, and two searching buttons, or just the Google's logo and a searching button. The regular full face of the Google’s front searching page will be shown only if you hovering your mouse into the page.

If you want to show only the Google’s logo and searching bar, use this script …

javascript:void(document.cookie="PREF=ID=2602f2ce49362929:U=7b6893b1882d5a94:TM=1239881060:LM=1254195610:L=0qXJlAA:GM=1:S=CwDGQD20E8U14zDg;path=/; domain=.google.com");

Since the new minimalist Google’s Searching Page is still a prototype, the script may not work on all main browsers. If you want to go back to the default Google's searching page, you can clear up the browser;s cookie called PREF. In Firefox, you can do it through the Options >> Privacy
