pps is the extension of PowerPoint file. The pps extension plays the PowerPoint slideshow directly without opening the PowerPoint first. That’s why we don't get the option to edit pps file from the PowerPoint environment.
However, there is still a simple way to edit pps file.
All we have to do is just to change (or rename) the extension of the file from .pps to .ppt.
(Note: To display the file extensions of file types, in Windows Explorer go to Tools >> Folder Options >> View and uncheck the "Hide file extensions of known file types" checkbox.)
Now, we just click on the ppt file that will be opened in the PowerPoint’s editing window. The pps is now edible.
This trick can also be used the other way around when you want to make a PowerPoint Slideshow (.pps) from a PowerPoint presentation document (.ppt).
